American Culture of Death

I found the video homily by Fr. William Nicholas to be excellent. Very erudite and enlightening.  We should thank G-d for giving him to us.

I find the American culture of death to be tied into the easy entertainment we have about crime and violence and the lowbrow entertainment such as “Spongebob Squarepants” and First Person Shooter games.

Love G-d and love your neighbor. Those are foundational to Western Civilization.

G-d Bless America, please.

Loving God

I do love God. He has given us so much. I do love my wife and kids. I also love my fellow American’s past, present and future. I hope you do too.

Trying now to introduce my youngest to God. It’s tough. He’s so self centered. like so many of my fellow humans. He really loves his DS. Just dropped him off for Christian Doctrine. I heard the choir singing. I know from study that St. Augustine of Hippo is alleged to have said that “Singing is praying twice”.  I do feel it does bring us closer to God.

I just did a search on ‘Singing is praying twice’, and found Fr. Z’s blog. Nice. Even has a link for Mystic Monk Coffee. I know my wife and eldest enjoy K Cups.  Listening to the music of Les Miserables. Victor Hugo and the folks who made the music are wonderful people.

On Fr. Z’s blog – under ‘Food for Thought”:
“The legalization of the termination of pregnancy is none other than the authorization given to an adult, with the approval of an established law, to take the lives of children yet unborn and thus incapable of defending themselves. It is difficult to imagine a more unjust situation, and it is very difficult to speak of obsession in a matter such as this, where we are dealing with a fundamental imperative of every good conscience — the defense of the right to life of an innocent and defenseless human being.”

– St. John Paul II

I do know that mothers are saints, but as people we do have different situations some of which are very stressful. Sometimes the stress of an unwanted pregnancy can drive a women to suicide. I deplore both, but do understand that it is important that women have control over their bodies. We are all human and make mistakes, some greater or lesser then others.
